The firm has two primary areas of representation: civil litigation and general business law.

Civil litigation involves a broad spectrum of disputes.  S. Gary Werley's particular experience spans a range of situations, industries and relationships between individuals and businesses.  He handles all types and stages of litigation, including trial work and appeals in both state and federal courts as well as arbitrations. In addition, he will use all available means to resolve cases prior to trial, especially negotiation between the lawyers/parties and voluntary or court-ordered mediation.  Often, alternative dispute resolution methods result in lower overall costs as well as a solution more acceptable to the client.  Settlement is an option that is made available by getting a case ready for trial and always being willing to take the case to trial.    He has considerable experience handling civil trials in many areas, particularly:

  • Medial Malpractice Defense(Podiatry)
  • Business Disputes
  • Bankruptcy Adversary Cases
  • Commercial Disputes
  • Construction (Homeowner, Contractor, Subcontractor)
  • Contract Disputes
  • Corporate Director & Officer Liability
  • Fiduciary Obligations
  • Homeowners Association Disputes
  • Landlord/Tenant
  • Personal Injury (Plaintiff and Defense)
  • Real Property Disputes
  • Restrictive Covenant Disputes
  • Shareholder Litigation
  • Water Diversion
  • Business Dissolutions
  • Probate Litigation

In addition to litigation, he represents clients in almost every area of general business law. The goal is to meet clients' needs and establish a long-term relationship. He has had many clients for more than 20 years. During representation, he learns the client's business, concerns, and needs. Thus, he is also able to provide services outside the courtroom, including:

  • Business Entity Formation and Upkeep (corporations, limited liability corporations, limited partnerships, partnerships, or other arrangements that meet the client's needs)
  • Contract Drafting and/or Review (litigation avoidance)
  • Employee Relations (labor law, non-compete agreements, workers compensation, compliance, contracts)
  • Real Estate (commercial and residential leases, contracts to buy or sell property, property development, contracts for deed)
  • General Legal Counseling
